7th U6+ International Conference, 2019
Six African Universities initially formed the U6 Consortium (now U6+) as a collaborative platform. Presently, the number has increased to eight comprising Cape Peninsula University of Technology, South Africa; University of Eldoret, Kenya; Kwara State University, Malete, Nigeria; The University of The Gambia, The Gambia; University of Cape Coast, Cape Coast, Ghana; University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria, Nigeria, University of Calabar, Nigeria and Michael and Cecilia Ibru University, Nigeria. The Consortium was established with the aim of fostering academic linkages and educational collaboration among these Universities. U6+ was officially launched on March 10, 2012 at the University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria.
As part of the initial agreement, all the collaborating Universities agree to cooperate on many areas including facilitating and coordinating joint researches, human capacity and curriculum developments. Others include organising seminars, academic interactive sessions, and other professional development programmes. Finally, they are also involved in organising joint annual international conferences and workshops. Institutions hosting these activities and programmes are usually selected on a rotational basis. University of Calabar, Calabar, Nigeria is the 2019 host of the U6+ Conference.

Openinig will host invited presentations representing the leading thoughts, new ideas and visions. Speakers will be allocated 30 minutes for presentation and discussion of their paper.

Workshops - By tradition workshop sessions at Design days conference aim to bring together users and experts in interactive, half-day sessions elaborating specific topics. DESIGN 2016 workshops will be organised to promote integration of different views, approaches and methods. Workshop coordinators could invite selected presentations and demonstrations in order to stimulate the debate as well as to propose any format of delivery that inspires interaction.

The purpose of debate is to investigate in a forensic manner some key topics that affect the engineering design research community. Opponents and debate moderator will be distinguished key players in the community presenting evidence for or against a particular topic.

The forum will be a unique opportunity for younger researchers and PhD students to discuss their research questions and ideas with experienced researchers, practitioners and managers in order to facilitate their research efforts. The series of grouped presentations will be used to raise the questions and stimulate debate in a round table style.
